Create An AI Song and Music Video That's Actually Good

Film & Animation

Introduction

In my most recent video, I showcased a frog cyborg music video, which garnered a lot of attention and comments. This motivated me to create a detailed tutorial explaining the entire process of making it. The project incorporated four completely free AI tools, but there are various other tools that can enhance the process. To provide a comprehensive overview, I'll create two additional music videos using different songs and tools, enabling a comparative analysis of these different options. This will help you decide which tool best suits your creative needs.

The Main Tool: AI Song Generation

The primary tool utilized in this project was designed to generate music and vocals, which I find to be the most fascinating aspect of the entire process. Earlier, I generated everything on Discord, but the recent release of a user-friendly web version makes it much easier to use. Once you log in, simply type in your genre and topic for the song, and the tool will either generate lyrics for you or allow you to enter your custom lyrics.

For example, I wanted to maintain the Frog Rock concept. In mere seconds, I received two options for song outlines, each lasting up to 80 seconds. Although my first attempt was a bit too experimental for my taste, the second round produced a fusion of nature and technology that perfectly matched my vision. At that point, you can either reroll or continue the song, extending the song structure with more lyrics, such as a guitar solo.

Image Generation: Playground AI

Next, I turned to image generation. For a free option, I used Playground AI, where I created a prompt for a frog playing the guitar. I selected a 16:9 aspect ratio and chose a stylish “neon meca” look to fit my futuristic vision. I generated several options and, after much trial and error, picked the best images for my video.

For capturing a singer and drummer, I had to go through numerous image generations to ensure I found the perfect representations of those characters.

Animation: Using P Labs and Runway ML

For animation, I used P Labs, specifically the web version P 1.0. While it was still on a waitlist, many users can access it more frequently. After uploading an image, I pasted a prompt describing the frog playing guitar, adjusted settings like aspect ratio and frames per second, and began generating animations.

I saved all good results and learned that details are crucial in animation. For instance, I faced some unique challenges with lip-syncing, as traditional tools don’t work effectively with animated characters. I had to creatively manipulate the best lip movement generations to sync vocals best.

After completing all the image animations with repeated testing for quality, I moved on to editing. During editing in Premiere Pro, I encountered some complexity due to the necessity of organizing layers for the singer and band scenes appropriately.

Editing Process

Editing using Premiere Pro turned out to be the most complex part of the project. I faced challenges with lip-syncing for animated characters, so I had to get innovative, using the best generations of the singer's mouth moving and playing them at various speeds. Additionally, gathering all characters to form a full band scene resulted in further complications, but I managed to work through it by layering images and using masks.

Ultimately, after addressing all these issues, I exported the final video at 720p and upscaled it using CapCut's free 2X video upscaler.

Creating an Album Cover

To complement my creation, I needed an album cover. Using Chat GPT, I generated a cover but had to tweak the text. With the visuals set, I was ready to present the frog rock concept to the audience.

New Songs and Variations

For my next projects, I continued using various AI tools to produce different styles of songs, including unique lyrics and vocal variations. I emphasized exploring tools like Mid Journey, Kyber, and AI Vocal Removers to create an even richer experience. Each tool had its applications, allowing for a diverse and enjoyable music video production.

Conclusion

Innovating with AI technology in music creation can actually yield impressive results. Experimenting with various tools allows an enriching experience, enabling creators to mold their unique artistic visions into tangible products.

As we continue exploring these advancements, it's fascinating to recognize how they evolve and improve, leading to potentially groundbreaking music and visual projects.
