In this quick tutorial, we’ll walk you through the process of creating an AI customer support line that utilizes a custom knowledge base. The platform we’ll focus on for this setup is Air AI, which offers a user-friendly interface for rapid deployment.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Create an Account on Air AI

To start, you'll need to create a free account on Air AI. You can find the registration link in the description of the accompanying video. After logging in, you’ll be directed to a welcome screen.

2. Set Up Your Knowledge Base

Navigate to the Knowledge Base tab and click on New Knowledge Base. Name your knowledge base— for example, "Customer Support KB."

Next, you can upload a document that will serve as the foundation for your knowledge base. In this demonstration, we use a sample document for "Bill's Balloon Outlet," an e-commerce store that sells balloons. This document can be generated using AI tools like ChatGPT if you don’t have your own ready.

Once uploaded, Air AI automatically extracts frequently asked questions (FAQs) from the document, displayed as flashcards. If you're interested in adding custom actions to these cards, let me know in the comments, and I can provide further guidance.

3. Create Your AI Agent

After setting up your knowledge base, it’s time to create your AI agent. Go back to the Create tab and choose New Agent. Name your agent, such as "Support Bot," and link it to the knowledge base you just created. You can also customize responses for any questions not covered in your knowledge base.

Additionally, you can choose a voice for the AI agent. For example, you can select a southern female accent to give it a friendly touch. Once everything is set, click Save.

4. Connect Your Twilio Account

You’ll need to set up a Twilio account for phone functionality. Click on the Integrations tab and navigate to the Twilio settings. If you don’t have a Twilio account, head to Twilio and sign up. Once logged in, go to Phone Numbers > Manage > Buy a Number to acquire a phone number.

After purchasing a number, return to Air AI. Access your Twilio dashboard, where you can find your Account SID and Auth Token. Copy each of these pairs of credentials one at a time and paste them into the respective fields in Air AI, then hit Save.

5. Launch Your Support Line

Under the Campaigns section, select Launcher Campaign. Agree to the terms and conditions, name your support line, and configure it for inbound calling. Make sure to select the agent you created earlier and choose your area code. You can set a budget for your campaign— for example, $ 10.

Once set up, you’ll see your Twilio number linked to your support bot. Test it by dialing the number!

Example Interaction

When you call, you might hear: “Hi, this is Debbie, Bill's wife. Welcome to Bill's Balloon Outlet! How can I help?” You can ask questions about shipping options or custom orders, and the AI will respond accurately based on the knowledge base information provided.
