I Tried Affiliate Marketing With No Money For 1 Week

Education

Introduction

Introduction

For the next seven days, I challenged myself to generate one thousand dollars through affiliate marketing, starting completely from scratch. In this article, I’ll share my entire journey, including the strategies I implemented and the challenges I faced along the way. If you're curious about how I went from zero to a thousand dollars in just one week, keep reading.

Day 1: Setting the Foundation

On the first day of this challenge, I had a lot of work ahead of me. For those unfamiliar with affiliate marketing, it involves promoting a brand's products or services through a unique affiliate link. When someone uses my link to make a purchase or sign up, I earn a commission.

The first task was choosing a niche to promote. After considering several options, including cooking, finance, fitness, and self-development, I decided to focus on the business niche. I picked this niche because it has the potential to generate higher earnings.

The next step was to create themed pages on TikTok and Pinterest, which I would use to promote my affiliate links. These two platforms are relatively easy to grow on, making them suitable for this challenge. I created accounts with the username "waytoobillionaire" and designed a profile picture using Canva.

After setting up my social media accounts, my next step was to find valuable affiliate links. I decided to use two platforms for this: Impact.com and ClickBank.com. After registering on Impact.com and awaiting approval, I moved on to ClickBank, where I found a promising affiliate program that offered commissions for reviewing apps on smartphones. I also signed up for the Coinbase affiliate program, which offered a commission for users purchasing cryptocurrency.

By day two, I received approval for the Robinhood affiliate link but was still waiting on the Shopify program. Nevertheless, I began implementing my advertising strategy. I added my affiliate links to my social media bios using Linktree, allowing users to access all my links from one URL.

To create content for TikTok, I searched for business and money motivation videos. I saved viral videos and either remade them using Canva or downloaded them without watermarks via Snaptik.app, allowing quick uploads to my social media accounts.

Unfortunately, links cannot be posted in TikTok bios until you hit a thousand followers. I aimed to achieve this by ensuring the first six videos I uploaded were viral-worthy. This method had worked successfully for me in the past, and I planned on posting between two to four videos each day.

Social Media Growth and Strategy

Moving forward, I dedicated myself to promoting my affiliate links through consistent postings. I anticipated that my efforts would yield results in both followers and engagement.

Returning After 9 Days

After nine days of implementing these strategies, I was eager to share my results.

Checking my TikTok account, I successfully grew my followers to over a thousand in just one day. By ensuring the first six videos posted were high-quality and had already gone viral, I quickly surpassed my goal. This allowed me to add my Linktree in the bio, which included all my affiliate links.

Several videos went viral, with one amassing over a hundred thousand views. Based on the engagement and traffic from my profile, it was clear my TikTok account was effective in driving interest.

On the contrary, my journey on Pinterest proved slower, as it usually takes weeks for content to gain traction. Therefore, most leads came from TikTok.

Financial Results

Despite the original goal being to earn a thousand dollars in one week, my journey took a little longer due to delays in approval for affiliate programs. However, I didn't leave empty-handed.

Overall, I managed to get:

  • 21 sign-ups for the Shopify free trial.
  • 6 people signed up for Robinhood.

For Robinhood, I earned $ 30, with the potential for more as people deposit funds into their accounts. From Shopify, I estimated that around 30% of the sign-ups would convert into paid accounts in the future. This could lead me to an estimated earning of around $ 900, considering the $ 150 commission for each paying user.

In conclusion, while I didn’t hit the $ 1,000 mark during this week, I believe consistent efforts could help me reach at least $ 2,000 every month moving forward.
