Getting Started with Video Templates
To begin, you can find inspiration by exploring the templates available in the Videos tab. Here you will discover a variety of video template types tailored for different purposes, all in the standard 16:9 size. Utilize the filters provided to search by theme or style, making it easier to find the perfect template for your project.
Once you select a template, you’ll be directed to the editor, where you’ll notice some changes. The page viewer at the bottom of the screen transitions into what we call the timeline. The black triangle and line that appear is known as the playhead, which you can click and drag to navigate through your video.
Moreover, you can switch between page zoom and thumbnail zoom by clicking the respective button. Additionally, if you prefer, you can revert any video project to the thumbnail view at any time. To preview your video, simply press the play button or hit the spacebar.
Customizing Your Template
Now that you’re familiar with the interface, it’s time to customize your selected template. Canva provides an extensive library of stock videos in the elements tab. You can easily search using relevant keywords and filter specifically for videos. If you frequently search for videos, consider adding a dedicated videos tab for easier access.
To replace an existing background video with your own, drag a video directly onto a scene within the timeline. Uploading video content from your device is simple through the uploads tab, and you can also integrate videos from services like Google Drive, Facebook, or Instagram. An innovative feature allows you to upload videos recorded on your phone using a QR code that generates a unique code for you to connect with Canva.
Recording Your Own Video
Did you know that you can also record yourself directly within Canva? This feature enables you to choose your camera and microphone, and then start recording your footage, which will be added to the scene and stored in your uploads tab for easy access later.
An additional benefit of using Canva Pro is the ability to remove the background of any video with just one click, making it incredibly easy to transport yourself to different locations or add a clean background to your video projects without the need for advanced software or a green screen.
